‘The Artist’ is a short story written by Shiga Naoya. In this story he has focused that how is the talent of a youngster spoiled.

“The Artist” Shiga Naoya के द्वारा लिखी गई एक छोटी कहानी है इस कहानी में उन्होंने इस बात पर Focus किया है कि किस प्रकार एक युवा के Talent को बर्बाद कर दिया जाता है।

Seibei is a 12 years old Japanese boy who lives in a harbour town. He reads in a primary school. He is fond of collecting gourds. He experiences new techniques on gourds everyday.

Seibei एक 12 वर्ष का जापानी लड़का है जो एक बंदरगाह वाले शहर में रहता है। वह प्राथमिक विद्यालय में पढ़ता है। वह कददू को इकट्ठा करने का शौकीन है और वह हर दिन कददू पर नई नई तकनीक का इस्तेमाल करता रहता है।

One day, he buys a special gourd in 10 sens and he is so closely connected to it that even he takes it to school.

But he is caught a day by moral teacher while polishing the gourd in the class he is scolded & the gourd is given to the porter.

और एक दिन वह एक कददू 10Sen में खरीदा है और वह उससे इतना जुड़ जाता है कि वह उसे अपने स्कूल लेकर चला जाता है।

लेकिन वह एक दिन कद्दू को पॉलिश करते हुए नैतिक शिक्षक के द्वारा पकड़ा जाता है। उसे डांटा जाता है और उसका कददू को छीन कर Gate Keeper को दे दिया जाता है।

The moral teacher complains about him to his family & as a result his father beats him & smashes his collection of gourds. But he does not say even a word. At the other hand that special gourd is finally sold in 600 yen. Like this, an art is wasted.

नैतिक शिक्षक इस बात की शिकायत उसके पिता से करते हैं और परिणाम स्वरूप उसे पिता के द्वारा पीटा जाता है और उसके कददू को तोड़ दिया जाता है लेकिन वह लड़का एक शब्द भी नहीं बोलता है। और दूसरी तरफ वह विशेष कददू 600 YEN  में बिक जाता है और इस तरह एक कला बर्बाद हो जाती है।

Finally, it’s an awesome presentation of Shiga Naoya where he beautifully shows that how is a talent wasted by the family and the mentor.

अंततः यह Shiga Naoya का एक शानदार कहानी है जहां उन्होंने काफी खूबसूरती से दिखाया है कि किस प्रकार किसी व्यक्ति का Talent उसके घरवालों और उसके मार्गदर्शक के द्वारा बर्बाद कर दिया जाता है।
