The Earth is a short story written by H.E.Bates. This story shows the tragedy of those parents who put too much trust on their child . The writer also says to us not to leave everything to God to solve.

This is the story of Johnson and his lovely son. Johnson was a simple farmer. he had taken some land from Sanders on annual rent. He was hard working but believed too much in fate.

यह Johnson और उसके प्यारे बेटे की कहानी है। जॉनसन एक साधारण किसान था। उसने Sanders से वार्षिक किराए पर कुछ जमीन ली थी। वह कड़ी मेहनत कर रहा था, लेकिन भाग्य पर बहुत अधिक विश्वास करता था।

He had only one son named Benjy. He was dull and unintelligent. The doctor advised to keep Benjy engaged in a work. So Benjy’s father brought some hens for Benjy in order to keep him busy. Gradually Benjy learnt all tricks of business.

उसके पास Benjy नाम का एक ही बेटा था। वह सुस्त और मंदबुद्धि का था। डॉक्टर ने Benjy को एक काम में व्यस्त रखने की सलाह दी। तो Benjy के पिता ने उसे व्यस्त रखने के लिए Benjy के लिए कुछ मुर्गियाँ लाए। Benjy ने व्यापार के सभी गुण सीखे।

He started to earn money by selling eggs. And he deposited much money in the bank. He bought that land from Sanders and get married a girl named Florence. Florence’s behavior about Benjy’s parents was not good. She poisoned his ears against his parents

उसने अंडे बेचकर पैसा कमाना शुरू कर दिया।  और उसने बैंक में बहुत पैसा जमा किया। उसने Sanders से वह जमीन खरीद लिया और Florence नाम की लड़की से शादी कर ली। Benjy के माता-पिता के बारे में Florence का व्यवहार अच्छा नहीं था। उसने उसके माता-पिता के खिलाफ जहर उगला।

Benjy therefore drove them into the town by small ford van. Now they had nothing to live. Thus,the writer has shown how a simple minded son drives his parents into the town and becomes cunning.

Benjy ने उन्हें छोटे Ford Van द्वारा शहर में ले गया और उन्हें वहाँ छोड़ दिया। अब उनके पास रहने के लिए कुछ नहीं था। इस प्रकार, लेखक ने दिखाया है कि कैसे एक साधारण दिमाग वाला बेटा अपने माता-पिता को शहर में लाता है और चालाक बन जाता है।
